Since 2000 Helen Petersen has been working as Department Manager at Halsnøy Kloster, Sunnhordland Museum, being responsible for various events and curating exhibitions within various fields of art, upholding her interest for art in general.
She discovered photography in 2003, and attended several courses. This led to commissioned work for the Marine Research Institute, Norway, as a fieldworker/photographer 2006 – 2010. Helen still do occasional photographic work for the institute, as well as documentation-photography for the museum…
In 2010 Helen started working film-based and experienced the joys of the darkroom. This led to attending several workshops. She has since been developing her skills as a B/W photographer,
including making my own silver gelatin prints. Over these years, she have found photography to be the best medium for her personal expression.
For as long as Helen can remember, images have been playing on her mind, like dreams. Whether through drawing, painting or sculpting, she was always trying to capture these elusive moments.
