In may 2005, Nadine Spinoza has given us, with her very pointed out exposition White Cube, a cogitation on space, time, her perception and the way we feel it… An interrogation on real, on ours, more than never in the middle of this new exposition found words in Depardieu Gallery from 29 June to 27 July 2007. (private view the 28th at 18h)

Sculptures, installations, videos, photos, Nadine Spinoza entrains us : The universe he couldn’t be only an “extraordinary illusion”, each of us, artist or not, create his own world.

Take conscious of this, feel it pass undoubtedly by a new taking over of the body. World is not “real”, we are world” says us Nadine Spinoza by inventing words, objects, images, signs…

White Cube

Nadine Spinoza exposes in Depardieu’s Gallery from first April to 27 May 2005. The artist installs in gallery space a cube, The White Cube (2*2meters), which inside is entirely covered of mirrors. This artistic project articulate around concept linked to reality perception, in the report of time and of space, of body and one’s picture. Visitor is led to try a news experience coming into the cube. This exposition, the fist of an atypical course’s artist, will be supplemented by big format’s photography on the same problems.

tA “mysterious black energy” of which we know anything for the moment and we can say anything if it’s…it exist. Therefore, we can point out without to much extrapolate that what we observe when we observe the universe is not real but our perception of real. Then, we have to ask us on what melts perception. And it seems, and in a same movement, that’s question too of “cognitive sciences revolution”. Our perception of three-dimensional universe couldn’t be only an “extraordinary illusion” because these is only our cerebrum’s construction from a two-dimension picture made by retina… Perspective’s rules teach us more on our visual apparatus and his real characteristics. Perception and psychology physiology are a thing, but they can’t be enough to pull definitive conclusions the ultimate reality nature. In the infinity, in every directions, what we observe in last analyse it’s us, our though, our capacity to work out concepts, make hypothesis. The watcher is watched.

Let us add in this a staggering proliferation of communication means and images and we are there : every conditions are united so that finally real tears him. Each of us can, potentially communicate with all the planet. Each of us can create, archive, have access to billion of data, information, images and sounds… Faced with such cacophony, each of us have to determinate what make sense for him.. And what kind of connexions he likes to establish with others. Each of us, and not only artists, create his own world. It was always so. We come only of understand it. To become aware of it. Which solution stays when we understand world is not real but we are the world ? Star by invent’s one, then attract to establish news connexions, unpublished. Perhaps. The most simple means for make these notions approachable is the creation of a cube while the six internal faces are a mirror. One of faces is a quarter of circle. The cube is so every time “open”. Come into the cube and try the experience. It could then involve of an inauguration act.
