The support is made of wood and Alireza’s work is already taking on a life of its own to tell the story of the bodies… It is the tree that gives the skin its colour.
Here, too, the brushstrokes are almost shamelessly fine, revealing every detail, every fold, every wrinkle, every hairline, every expression, every concern, every beauty… These men are all deep, sensitive characters, offered up and defenceless under the artist’s pen.
Are we dreaming of love, in the rays of light that betray an almost palpable melancholy? The eyes are turned inwards, and the silence that seems to be imposed, the drawing resonates in the bright colours of the décor… Plants here and there also take root at the feet of the men, dancing as the poser dreams.
What is most breathtaking is the imaginary realism of the drawing, which forces us to frame our gaze where we would never have dared to look. A shadow passes over these surrendered men, loved but alone.
